You could say it’s just a high sense of intuition or perception,
Maybe just a keen eye, attentiveness and awareness. Or vision with anticipation.
Or you could say it’s just trends, patterns, deductions, and logic…
Sometimes it’s just that.
But nothing compares to the Holy Spirit and God’s own voice…
Some will try to explain it away, excuse it with reason.
In unbelief, in doubt, or perhaps even in ignorance.
But to the one who’s heard and seen,
It’ll still be His voice…
I am reminded of a passage I am fond of… from 1 Kings 19
How the Lord spoke to Elijah.
11 And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper. 13 And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
There are other places in the Bible where God speaks but this one comes to mind first. Because I remember being touched by this passage. I just read this online commentary real quick but personaly, I think God uses many ways to speak to us, to some quite loudly and in terror, and to others just so, in small whispers… no need for an earthquake.
